Never Forget the Hostages!

At Tübingen’s market square, directly above the entrance to “Treffpunkt Jesus Live,” a powerful appeal has been hanging since Wednesday, August 6th, clearly visible to all, not to forget the Israeli hostages in the tunnels of Gaza. Alongside the large red letters “Never Forget the Hostages” is a picture of the emaciated 24-year-old Israeli Evyatar David. Hamas forced him to dig his own grave for a recently released propaganda video. A second large banner with the same message hangs on the building front of the TOS Church and Conference Center on Tübingen’s Eisenbahnstraße.

Evyatar is the best friend of Guy Gilboa Dalal, whose father and brother spoke at the March of Life on Tübingen’s market square in May of this year (Link). They fight tirelessly for the young men and the other approximately 50 remaining hostages in Hamas captivity. Evyatar – emaciated but in significantly better physical condition – and Guy were seen together in an earlier Hamas video in February, when they had to watch the release of other hostages from a bus.

Given the numerous, sometimes misleading reports about suffering and hunger among Palestinians in Gaza, the fate of the hostages easily fades into the background. Yet their release would be the beginning of the end of the war. The TOS Church Tübingen and the March of Life appeal to all citizens, media professionals, and politicians not to forget the hostages and to demand their release.
