Israeli President Receives March of Life Delegation

Israeli President Isaac Herzog received a delegation from March of Life from Germany and Israel at his residence in Jerusalem on Tuesday. The Israeli head of state expressed his appreciation and support to Jobst Bittner, founder and president of the international March of Life movement.

Bittner, together with his wife Charlotte and the organization’s international director Heinz Reuss, is currently in Israel to prepare for the large “March of the Nations” to be held in Jerusalem and other Israeli cities on May 14-17.

Also present at the meeting were Doron Almog, chairman of the Jewish Agency, and Igal Even Ziv, March of Life director in Israel. Herzog received the delegation in a family setting. As a gift, he accepted a picture taken at a public Hanukkah celebration held by March of Life in Tübingen in 2021. It shows the medieval facades of the houses built on Tübingen’s river side that were illuminated with a huge Hanukkiah.

Since the movement began in 2007, marches have taken place in more than 20 nations and over 400 cities – in cooperation with Christians of various churches and denominations, as well as many Jewish communities. At the first March of the Nations in 2018 in Jerusalem, 6,000 participants expressed their solidarity with Israel.
