Worldwide Wake-Up Call at 6:29 a.m. Israel Time: Shofar and Signs Against Forgetting October 7
March of Life calls for gatherings in central squares worldwide on the third anniversary of the Hamas massacre
On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, people around the world will stand up at 6:29 a.m. Israel time to remember the victims of the Hamas terror attack of October 7, 2023 – the very minute the terror began three years ago. In central squares, the shofar, the traditional Jewish ram’s horn, will sound for one minute. Participants will hold up signs reading “Never forget October 7.” The worldwide wake-up call is an initiative of March of Life, based in Tübingen, Germany.
So far, 83 locations in 21 countries have signed up, from Tübingen to New York and from Kielce to Buenos Aires (as of October 6, 2026). The call is available in five languages: German, English, Spanish, French and Polish. Anyone can take part. A single person in a visible place is enough.
In the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, around 1,200 people were murdered and 251 were abducted. Thousands were wounded, abused and traumatized. It was the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.
“We are getting up early on October 7 because we will not stay silent. The victims must not be forgotten, and our Jewish neighbors should know that we stand by their side,” says Heinz Reuss who organized the global campaign.
“The world was quick to forget. Victims were turned into the accused, and hatred of Jews has exploded,” says Jobst Bittner, President of March of Life. “That is why we are standing up in so many places on the same morning. We remember, we stand with Israel and with our Jewish neighbors.”
On the evening of October 7, an online memorial event will take place with contributions from former Hamas hostage Guy Gilboa-Dalal and his family, Hanan Dan, a survivor of the Kfar Aza massacre, and many others. The event will be streamed in seven languages on March of Life’s YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@MarchofLife
